About us

This CLME+ is a portal designed to harness global knowledge, resources and tools in the one convenient place to support the achievement of the Caribbean and North Brazil Shelf (CLME+) Vision and Strategic Action Programme (SAP) initiatives. The HUB has been designed to accommodate the information needs of a wide variety of CLME+ stakeholders including members of the general public to LME Practitioners.

The CLME+ Hub is an initiative of the Secretariat of the CLME+ Interim Coordination Mechanism (ICM), in collaboration with the CLME+ ICM and CLME+ Project Executive Group (PEG) and (prospective) Partner Organizations. Development of the Hub has benefited from the financial support of the UNDP/GEF Project: “Catalysing Implementation of the Strategic Action Programme (SAP) for the Sustainable Management of shared Living Marine Resources in the Caribbean and North Brazil Shelf Large Marine Ecosystems” (CLME+ Project, 2015-2020). The CLME+ Project is executed by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in close collaboration with a large number of global, regional and national-level partners.

Under the UN Agency to UN Agency agreement, between the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of the United Nations Educational, scientific, and Cultural Organization (IOC of UNESCO), and United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS); IOC of UNESCO - UNOPS Collaborative Execution of the UNDP/GEF CLME+ Project: “Catalysing Implementation of the Strategic Action Programme for the Sustainable Management of shared Living Marine Resources in the Caribbean and North Brazil Shelf Large Marine Ecosystems,” IOC of UNESCO contributed to the development of the project in Component I- A portal providing CLME+ stakeholders with access to Training and Capacity Development opportunities/ materials on issues of key/cross-cutting importance for the CLME+ SAP Strategies.

The CLME+ Portal Training is a portal providing CLME+ stakeholders with access to training and capacity building opportunities/ materials on issues of key/cross-cutting importance for the CLME+ SAP Strategies. Due consideration is to be given under CLME+ Project Component 2 to the provision of better access to training/capacity building opportunities that can contribute to addressing the root causes of environmental degradation in the CLME+ region (overfishing, pollution, habitat degradation, in a context of climatic variability & change), and to promoting the region-wide, cross-sectoral adoption of EBM/EAF.
